Dear shipmate

I sincerely hope life is treating you well at the moment because here on the starship we seem beset with troubles.

I feel like I’ve been complaining a lot lately, but please allow me one additional whinge in the Ship’s Log, then I’ll shut up and count my blessings, which, to be honest, are many.

Before you read the starship’s latest woe, however, spare a second for Carina Lin on her Star Mage Quest.

Carina is a slum brat turned space mercenary—with a twist. She’s also a mage, and she’s about to risk everything.

You can read the beginning of her story free of charge in Star Mage Quest as well as the prequel, Daughter of Discord.

I’m mentioning the stories now because in the next bulletin I will be discounting Star Mage Saga books 1 - 3.

On to the complaint.

YouTube has demonetised the starship’s channel. (I don’t want to put a link to it as I think I will end up taking down all my audiobooks.)

I don’t mind the fact that I won’t earn anything from the channel—the proceeds are nothing to write home about.

The problem is, when a channel is demonetised the account holder loses control of the ad placement.

Left to its own devices, YouTube inserts ads every five to ten minutes, which for audiobook listening must be absolutely maddening.

When I had control, I limited the ads on my books to every 45 minutes to an hour.

The listener’s experience is very important to me, so if I can’t provide good quality audiobooks, I’m not interested.

If you’ve enjoyed the channel so far, you might want to listen to any unfinished books over the next month or so.
