SHIP’S LOG

I had a lovely day meeting new shipmates at the Geek Mart in Birmingham on Saturday. The event hosted two special guests: Katy Manning, who played Jo, assistant to Jon Pertwee’s Dr Who, and Wendy Padbury, who played Zoe, assistant to Patrick Troughton’s Dr Who.

The two retired actresses gave talks. Sadly, I couldn’t attend because, as usual, I was stuck behind my table.

As you can see, I tried something a little different this time to entice browsers to come over. I set up a couple of visual aids to help describe aspects of two of my series.

Can you guess what I was representing?

The display on the left features matches, a piece of wire wool, a cup of water, a small bundle of sticks and a handful of earth.

The display on the right is a depiction of three hares running in a circle.

Any guesses?

While I was in Birmingham I popped in to see Cabin Boy No. 1, his wife and their delightful latest family addition, D’Artagnan.

He’s a beauty, isn’t he? Much changed from when they found him as a small kitten last winter, wet, freezing and covered in fleas.
